John - something sounds wrong - I have a 1993 S4 Sedan, also lowered
with Eibachs (and Bilstein Sport shocks). I also have 8x17 wheels, 35
offset, but my tires are 245-40-17 (Sumitomo HTRZ-II). I don't have any
rubbing like you describe except on a full lock slowspeed U-turn and
then only on one side and I further think I am contacting my
Frankenliner mod and not the wheelwell liner itself. Further, I do not
have camber plates, the car drvies great and normal and I have
completely even wear across the tire. I've NEVER rubbed when going over
a bump, straight or turning and trust me, San Francisco has some pretty
horrible roads as well.
Something is wrong, perhaps your alignment is way out of spec. Or your
offset is not what you think it is (?). Your tires are taller than mine
by a hair, perhaps that has something to do with it?

I have a 1995.5 S6 wagon, lowered with Eibachs, with 235/45 Yoko AVS db
tires mounted on 8 x17
wheels with 35 mm offset.
The front tires rub the inner fender liner on moderate bumps, especially
when turning.Obviously,
it is the outside tire which contacts the fender. Seattle/Bellevue
streets leave a lot to be
desired!
I am contemplating installing camber plates to correct the accelerated
wear the inside of the
tires experience.
The problem that I anticipate is the rubbing will get more severe as I
tip the top of the struts
out to correct the camber induced by the shorter springs!
I assume the obvious solution is to install wheels with more offset, or
less width, or both, I do
hate to give up the width though!
Any alternative solutions?
What are your thoughts on solving this problem? Anyone been there, done
that??
What wheels offer a solution? I would like to go to an Avus style wheel,
preferably 17 inch, maybe
18.
Thanks
