[s-cars] Eibach spacer answer

Eibach-Bilstein spacer pursuit continues.
SO I got a call back from DC at Eibach (X114) and I happened to be at the p=
hone today.
I describe the S4/6 spring/shock situation and the GP that occurred, where =
BO provided a 10mm spacer to compensate for rear sag. I asked DC to find th=
e part number. He places me on hold for a while and gets back on the line.
DC tells me there is no such spacer-part called out in the Eibach database,=
 and that if the special spacer was required at one time, Eibach would resp=
ond with a slightly higher spring height. DC says the Eibach method is inte=
nded to be easy without adjustment-spacers. He did find a part number for t=
he front (1529FR). Which we do not need.
My summary: Peter once wrote that the initial spacers provided were to smal=
l in diameter. That BO replaced them with larger steel spacers. This makes =
sense because when I measured my Bilstein Sports, the front is smaller than=
 the back shock.
SO I don't have a part number for you guys. DC recommended that I try it as=
 he expects the car should be level.
End of saga. I think I'll get some grooves machined into the Bilstein body =
for adjustment after the install.

When changing the rear shocks the diameter of the new Koni was different and
smaller, OD 42mm compared to OD 49mm on the Sachs which also had ten grooves
for adjustability of the lower spring-support with 10mm between the grooves=

later measured another S6 with Boge(4A9 513 031D) rear shocks and it had OD
46mm but the same diameter on the spring.

I regret not buying the Sachs shocks again for the rear since I ended up
making two rings/spacers. One for the different diameter and one for the
adjustment of the spring-support at the bottom. It would have bin a lot eas=
ier
to adjust the ride height just moving the locking ring.

All this said i assume the lower spring-support is different on various mod=
els
on our cars depending on which shock the car came with from the factory and
diameter of the spring. The the solution is probably to make an adapter-ring
if the shocks and springs is already paid for, or do as Hap did, put an
adjustable coilover at the rear.
