WOW! Now that's something to look forward to. Coincidently, I went to NED
in Epping NH last week for their Wednesday night "Street Night". I met up
with the vacationing Paul K., paid my $17 and set up for a night of drag
racing. Of course, with the crowd that only meant 3 runs for me by the time
we left at 9pm. By that time it was approximately a 1 hour wait between
runs.
This was my first time on the drag strip and I was primarily trying to get a
baseline for comparison to things to come, and to try and calibrate my AP22.
My car is completely stock with the exception of the heavy 17" Avus wheel
package (It would have been interesting to see the difference with the 15"
rims & tires). Temps were in the high 60's. My three runs were:
Run 1: 15.374 ET @ 90.67 mph
Run 2: 15.610 ET @ 91.57 mph
Run 3: 15.575 ET @ 90.61 mph
During my 1st run I hit the rev limiter before one of the shifts and
obviously had a bit of a stumble, yet that was my fastest time. Go figure.
Paul's car has the MTM Stage 1+ chip and a Stebro exhaust from the cat back.
Same 17" Avus though with 255 tires vs. my 235s, so probably slightly more
rotational mass. As I recall, his last two runs were 15.13 and 15.15 sec
ET, with a trap speed of 97-98 mph. I'll let Paul describe the first run
when he gets back. I don't know. Something to do with clutch not engaging
until 3rd gear. It wasn't pretty.
So, today I get a call from Panalpina Freight at Bradley airport across the
street from work. My big package from the Fatherland is in containing a CRB
6spd, along with RS2 turbo, EM, MAF, and assorted other goodies. I have an
appointment with the Customs man tomorrow afternoon. Woo Hoo! It really is
Christmas in August.
