Long time. Two other things to look at are the condition of your hydraulic
pressure accumulator (aka "the bomb") which can be tested by turning the car
off and pumping the brake pedal and counting the number of pumps until the
pedal gets completely stiff.

The second is the condition of your hydraulic brake booster and the brake
master cylinder- leaks in either system can cause the brake warning light to
come one. Master cylinder is not too expensive to replace, the hydraulic
booster is very expensive.
