I cannot remember the clearance for sure, but I would say at least a few
inches, nothing that looked like a problem. I will check later for
sure.

Welcome to the world of overboost. In layman's terms you're running into
the
ECU's protective element that shuts things down to limp mode as you
approach
some predetermined level of flow through the MAF. There is software
available
that desensitizes this protection but its very hard to come by. Igor and
I
believed at one time that this limp mode shut down was attributed to
electronic boost controllers. What was really happening was that the
controllers were actually allowing us to reach these higher levels of
MAF
flow. A boost controller could allow you to throttle back on your
turbo's
flow negating this problem. As you look down on your turbo what is the
clearance between the compressor section and your exhaust manifold?
