Our S6 Avant is experiencing a couple of fuel system related symptoms. Coul=
d anyone assist with a starting point or work plan? I do have the "Official=
 Factory Repair Manual" CD-ROM on hand. Any BTDT with the S4/S6 fuel system=
 frailties? The notorious S4/S6 fuel line was replaced in September 1999 at=
 about 38K miles and the car now has accumulated 60K miles in total.

First: Excessive fuel venting through the vent tube on the right underside =
of the chassis show's to be very wet. Its the "end of the line" for the EVA=
P canister. Strong fuel odor present inside and out side of vehicle as a re=
sult.
Second: The fuel gauge will not read past the 3/4 mark or below a 1/4. Gaug=
e readings are not reliable.
Thirdly: High fuel tank pressure present when opening the gas cap. (Its pre=
sumed high) and I'd bet well beyond the stated 40lbs. pressure as indicated=
 in the Bentley CD-ROM.

I'm the original owner ( wife's car ) and have not had any collision work o=
r mods to the car outside of a RS2 manifold, MTM 1+ ECU and OEM Euro HID he=
adlight assemblies.
