[s-cars] no A/C all summer and now no car - HELP

I had a similar experience with Compressor International and believe there
is some standard cross reference book the industry uses that has a mistake
as it relates to the s4/s6. That time my mechanic got one on his own and
solved my problem.
A few years later I purchased one from an A/C guy in Texas off Ebay, and
almost had the same problem again. The notes I still have show he wanted to
ship me part number #804-820 per his listing, but the research I did showed
the correct part would be #804-1296. If the part they sent you has sae and
not metric fittings, and cross references with a GM Pontiac Grand AM, try to
get them to send 804-1296.
In the end, the seller apologized and refunded my money, so I can't really
tell for sure if my research finally came to the correct part.

Subject: [s-cars] no A/C all summer and now no car - HELP
Well, I've been wrestling with my A/C all summer. When I posted
earlier, I got many helpful responses to placed to purchase a compressor
for a good price for my 95 S6. I ordered one from Hancocks in Texas.
That had the right manufacture (Zexel), it was in stock (rebuilt), and a
good price $259. Problem is, the Receiver/Dryer they sent did not fit.
I called them back and they checked all their sources and said it was
the correct part. Well, the inlet and outlets on the unit shipped to me
are at about a 130 degree angle. The one in the car has the outlets at
about a 45 degree angle. You cannot bend the high pressure hoses that
much and if I did, they would interfere with other items under the hood.
So I started calling around and so did my mechanic. Everyone had the
same part which wouldn't help me. Unless some wise lister knows a
source for the correct part, I will have to go to the dealer. I HATE to
pay their price. Hancock's receiver dryer was $35 (even if it was the
wrong part) and the dealer wants over $300. That's a crime!
Here is the part number on the unit in the car - 7-57936-03709-8 - it
was on the sticker on top of the receiver dryer.
Worst part is, we have the A/C system all torn apart so I can't even
drive the car (for the past 3 weeks).
