Len,
Car is from southern ontario where rust is King! It has been resprayed
twice, second time to correct a poorly matched colour. Second spray also
corrected rust issues around the windshield, which was removed along with
all other trim. The car does not show any other surface rust top or
bottom. However there is some overall parts corrosion due to exposure to
road salt. The other thing I noticed was chipping of the gray paint?? on
the centre console, any suggestions for a fix and is there a colour code.
thanks
Earl

Hi Ed,,
I have a 94 S4 with "only" 170,000 klicks n it. I really am not to sure
what mechanical issues other than those mentioned on the websites you may
have to worry about, but a Canadian car with that high mileage was most
likely driven year round. Depending where in Canada the car lived, it may
have been exposed to large amounts of salt, or other ice melting
concoctions
that can do nasty things to steel, even if it is galvanized. My 94 is
showing signs of rust in a couple of spots (A pillar, front edge of rear
doors, and under the lower front door moulding). Not sure where else you
should look, but I would take a close look at the underside just in case.
Good luck
HTH,
Len

First time post from a newbie with the itch. Took my first test drive a
couple of weeks ago, my cheeks still hurt, not sure if it is from the grin
or the g's. The car I'm looking at is a sweet pearl white Canadian S4 with
400K kms or 250K miles. It has had most service issues dealt with very
recently ie engine(w pump, timing & other belts) , clutch, brakes and
suspension, the car remains very tight with no strange sounds from the
engine or drivetrain. All electrics work as they should except the seat
heaters. I have a pretty good ear and seat-of-the-pants ability to qualify
ride and performance, but is there anything specific (expensive) I should
take a closer look at? Especially things that would not jump out at a
first timer. I have read the buyers guide posted on s-car.org and no red
flags from my drive and quick walk around the car.
