[s-cars] Indifferent differential

I used to use my rear diff lock all time time in Wisconsin winters for fast
launches in the snow. Fun to leave all those SUVs a block behind! But it
always dropped out at 15MPH.
Did you situation occur on dry pavement?
I'm guessing that you got some drive line wind-up (especialy if you turned a
corner going into that on-ramp) in the rear end that was keeping the diff
lock from releasing normally. As you discovered, having a locked rear axle
affects normal steering!
I would suggest reserving the rear diff lock for really slippery
conditions... snow, ice, sand, mud, gravel. You certainly don't need it on
dry pavement, and probably not even in the rain.

Subject: [s-cars] Indifferent differential
I was sitting at a light and needed to beat some other
traffic to the highway entrance ramp. I pressed the
differential button and got the normal green light on
the center consoul and the antilock off indication on
the dash. Light turns green and I merge onto the
highway. At 60mph I notice that the antilock off has
not turned off. Green differential indication is on as
well. Tried to push button again but to no avail. Also
noticed that the car wants to pull to the right so I
have to add some left steering to go straight.
Concerned, I try to get over to the side, then out of
the blue the car jerks to the left (from the left
steering correction input) and goes back to its normal
self. All indicators return to normal as well. Entire
event took place in the span of 1-1/2 miles. I am
afraid to go near the differential lock now. Has
anyone ever had this happen to them? Any suggestions?
Thank You in Advance
Darren
