Well, it looks like you kids have had a busy night. I awoke this morning
to find my inbox still smoldering.
First of all, this topic is officially OVER. Back to your corners everyone.
I have read through all of the flames in the order that they were sent
and as soon as I read Paul's initial post I knew he was going to be
burned at the stake by the list. Paul, I think I can related to the
"rush" you felt having survived the ordeal unscathed. While I have never
crashed a car in my life, my long time love for cycling has resulted in
more than my fair share of spills. When you survive a fantastic crash
and walk away you definitely feel a rush or high.... serious adrenaline!
I suspect you posted your message when you were still feeling this
'survival high'. Hopefully you've calmed down enough to fully take in
the severity of what happened or what could have happened. C'mon now, 90
in a 25 zone? That is absolutely insane.
Were the list members a bit hard on you Paul? Sure, but I think for good
reason. While you might not believe it, list members actually care about
the health and survival of the other list members. They may have been
harsh and condescending, but hey, I probably would have been too. You
can't expect to throw a post out there as you did and not have people
comment on it. Hopefully you could swallow the lumps and move on.
Then it happened.... Paul got jiggy with it. Uh Paul? Are you absolutely
SURE you didn't take a hard whack to the head in that roll? In the
history of this list I have never seen a retaliatory post as immature as
yours. Resorting to personal attacks on Teddy and Bob in particular was
completely uncalled-for. After these messages were posted to the list I
got a deluge of e-mail from members of the list wishing to have you
banned from the list. You're still young, why burn all your bridges now?
Save some for later Paul.
So what do we do now? In the history of these lists I have never had to
kick anyone off the list. I'm going to wait a few days and see if we
can't recover a bit from this. At the very least Paul, I think you owe
both Teddy and Bob a sincere apology. If you're not big enough to
understand why, then maybe a little cooling off period off list is in
order. I've not known you to act like this Paul and I must admit it
shocked the hell outta me. Go back and read what you posted about Teddy
and Bob (among others).... good God man, are you serious? Hopefully you
can see what I mean here. ;-) For now Paul, you're on probation for a
little while. Hopefully you can chill out, mend some bridges, and become
a productive part of the list again. Fair enough?
To the list members who engaged in tearing Paul a new a$$hole.... guys
guys guys. eesh! I know where you are coming from and I knew it was
coming as soon as I read Paul's post. While I think a dose of humility
was good for Paul, I think that the driver of the car was more deserving
of the "fan mail" than Paul was... at least at first. Have any of you
ever seen the movie Office Space? If not, there is a young cubicle
warrior in the movie who makes one mistake while creating some reports.
From the point on, everybody and their brother goes out of their way to
mention his mistake to him and inquire as to whether he got the memo
about the correct procedure to follow. Obviously, when we screw up it is
no fun to be reminded of it over and over and to have it rammed down our
throats.
Let's all just take a moment and relax and see if we can't recover from
this one. If not, I've got the Ax sharpened and ready. You get one
warning on this list. If you still can't play well with others then you
get removed. This goes for everyone. Either play nice or stay the hell
out of the sandbox. ;-)
Once again, this topic is OVER. Do not reply to this topic on the list.
If you still have issues, please contact me directly.
Peace.
Darin
