[s-cars] NAC, John Wayne flights

That departure is only after a parachute arrival. I never knew a 737 could
be slipped in at such a steep approach angle. First time I've heard the
pilot come on the blower and warn about an "abrupt" arrival path. Youch,
"abrupt" it was!

Then the departure, WOW! I was seated at the rear edge of the wing, and
looked down to see grass as the pilot powered up. Toe brakes the whole way,
felt like the Maxell ad. Full power, brakes off, the 737 felt like Shirley
Muldowney's race car transporter! Wheels up, stay in ground effect to
accelerate, rotate in a big way at the end of the runway, make like an F16
until stall, then nose over at idle, mush our way out over the water. I
think they head for the water because it's a softer place to fall. Then,
once over the water, resume breathing, and get on with life.

You should fly out'a John Wayne airport in Orange County some time. They
have to do that EVERY TIME! Noise abatement laws force them into a very
steep climb, followed by a low power stall over the houses. REALLY a BLAST!
Course, it means about 10% higher fares to cover the extra gass, but it's
worth every penny!

Now if I could just get that kind of thrust out'a my S6 :-)
