One more thing -- as I remember, the switch is on the (passenger) side
of the tranny -- not the top. It's visible from above and your basic
upright, bipedal, primate can reach right down, unplug it, give it a
shot of cleaner and be backing up in style.

Not sure of your situation, but is it simply a matter of your backup
lights/passenger mirror auto-dip not working? If so, try cleaning the
connector and plugging it back in. Has happened twice to me over the
years and a simple shot of electrical cleaner on the connector got
everything back in working order. Matter of fact, cleaning various
connectors has fixed a few problems for me. Not sure why the S-Car is so
sensitive to dirty connectors (which appear fine to the naked eye, but
it seems to be the case. If your connector was: stolen, beaten into
submission by a hammer, or otherwise -- never mind.
