This is definitely not a rubbing sound.  I know you have had an issue with =
rubbing on the 235/45s, but mine (SP8K) just barely wipe the dirt off the l=
iner.

The sound is a loud bang, like something just snapped, and the whole front =
end shakes and sidesteps, as Dave B. mentioned.  It's like the drive train/=
suspension needs more slip to occur at sharp steering angles than the tires=
 can provide, which is why it seems to be more of an issue with the wide st=
iff summer tires than with the mushier snow tires.
