Hmm, Charlie, I feel your pain. Not directly, but mentally.
We had a guy at school with no legs, somehow he managed to be able to drive manual transmission cars with some arrangement of sticks. Then again, he crashed a Honda Accord in a swamp, so perhaps that's not such a good idea. I guess I really don't suggest you try it with the Audi.
Grand Marnier.. Ymm.. I had a couple of Grand Marnier crepes last weekend at the Weinachts Markt's in Köln and Koblenz last weekend. Quite tasty. Can you make crepe's on crutches?
WRT snow, we have a good foot or two here in Arvidsjaur, quite enough for some fun to be had. Closest thing I can my hands on with quattro at the moment though is a Golf 4-motion. Time for some haldex fun. Paulie K, you need to come up here and practice your hand-brake turns, I've got them down to a good science with a Lancia.
Actual conversation yesterday between me and my boss:
Keith "Hey, do we do any compensation in the traction control agorithm for a handbrake turn?"
Boss "No, I dont think so, why would we want to do that"
Keith "Oh, never mind. Mind if I work on a special project the next couple of days?"
MAC: For those of you who haven't seen a A8 in person yet, I have to say it is a very beautiful car. I think a few months ago when the pictures came out, I said it looked like a Passat. Was I ever wrong! Simply stunning. I want a black one for certain. In that color, it also makes it easy to find when someone drives it off the snowtrack. (It wasnt me I swear)
Keith "only 4 hours of daylight a day, but I'm still sane, realllly...." Maddock

Turkey. [ left over Thanksgiving content ]
Here I sit, 2" of fresh snow all over outside. When you have your
right leg in a cast let me tell you what results ...
a. You can't drive the Audi. In fact the 4 studded Nokians are
still on the tire rack in the garage. Not even on the car.
b. You can't even get out to the truck with the A/T in the driveway
because crutches on ice & snow are "not a good idea". Pfthpth!
I wonder if Nokian makes studded crutch tips?
Moving right along, from "left over Thanksgiving", right straight into
the true spirit of the Christmas season - Bah Humbug!
Please excuse my feeble attempts at humor above. If self restraint
didn't keep rearing it's ugly head, I'd say it's time for some Grand
Marnier sampling, maybe time to get into that 50th anniversary bottle
up there in the closet. :-)
