[s-cars] ABS...what does it sound like????

It sounds kinda like a metallic "playing card in the spokes on your bike".
It happens in conjunction with a rapid pulsing of the brake pedal. Even
weirder is the inverse, called EDL (Electronic Differential Lock). You're
lucky, it didn't appear 'til '95.5. It uses the ABS components to stop
wheelspin while accelerating. Sounds like the same metallic playing cards
trick, but on your friend's bike. Weird. HTH.

Hello all.

Apparently I've never activated it before so it has gone unnoticed. But it
actually snowed in NJ yesterday and I happened to slam on the brakes for
the fun of it.  The car came to a stop rather nicely, but the ABS sounded
like some serious funk was going on. Basically sounded like a failed
attempt at clutchless shifting, lotsogrinding.  I know that there is a
pulsating that occurs, and it did, but the noise was rather unexpected. Is
this normal? And no the sound was not coming from the trans.
