[s-cars] A4 1.8, 3.0 or TL

Hi Bill,

First, as a few other listers, I would go with a 1.8 over a 3.0 any day,
especially for your wife. I have to admit I've never drive the 3.0 but,
except for a few more hp, I doubt the power curve have changed so much.
Except if you're a 5K rpm + aficionado, and most wives are not, the 1.8T
is much more responsive at more usual rpm.

For the TL, it's a fun car to drive. You have to rev it a lot to real
get fun from it, especially the S flavour, which is not wives oriented,
so same thing as A4 3.0. With the TL, you'll also inherit a FWD and
really ugly interior - ok, it's a matter of test, _I_ find it really
ugly. I still love to bash my boss TL S but I'll never spend my time on
it. It's only good for bashing, especially when the company pays for the
burnt brake pads, jammed calipers and sanded tires, so much for the
reliability.

Since I have tied my brain in knots trying to figure out a new vehicle
for my wife, I thought I'd survey a panel of experts.
I'm thinking A4 3.0, quattro, non CVT automatic, denim blue, blue
leather, all the toys short of "mop n glow" pkg.  Would this be the
correct configuration?   and geesh, I think such a beast approaches 40 k
+tax!
I'd like to get it by xmas or her bday mid Jan. though xmas may be
difficult.
Then I could save probably 5k + if I go with a Acura TL S type.  (260
trouble free hp:)
Or I should wait for a Cayenne?
Any thoughts appreciated.
