[s-cars] Hi-Energy Ignition Systems

Be cautious, for small-block-chevys, MSD is a good product. A good friend
has several of the 6A units on various small and big block Mopars, there is
some benefit to the Multi Spark Discharge system, but my understanding is
that the Multi-spark drama ends at 3000 RPMs, and the ignition works in
single spark mode from then on. Anyway, I am going by memory and without the
benefit of firsthand experience.
It is my understanding that the ignition system in our cars is one of their
strong features, it is already a high energy system. Hence the individual
coil packs for each cylinder, eliminated spark plug wires(to get rid of any
unnecessary resistance), and who could forget those wonderful Bosch spark
plugs for which there appears to be no substitute (I think they are the only
ones that can withstand the demanding ignition system combined with 9.4:1 to
1 compression running 25psi of boost, YOIKS!
As a side note, I think our system is similar to what Nology sells as an
aftermarket upgrade for most cars, individual coils built into the spark
plug end of each SP wire (plus an ignition amplifier). Anyway, they use Beru
(Silversomething or other?) with that upgrade, they claim its the only plug
that can withstand the energy that their system produces, or something like
that. I wonder if anyone has tried any of these SPs in our cars. Anyone...
anyone...anyone... Buler? Maybe I'll take a look...
