[s-cars] Performance update with DSY

Rob Braunschweig and I spent a few minutes last night in the cobblestone street of his small German village, comparing my S4 trans to his DQT trans with a maglight (yes..a good ole 'murkin flashlight in Germany, they're quite popular here!). We're assuming the DQT has the same bellhousing as the DSY. He also had a 5mm? spacer thats used between the ABY engine and trans to compensate for the thick dual mass flywheel.
Placing this spacer, all the holes lined up perfectly (as expcted) with my S4 trans. Placing the same spacer on the DQT, you can easily see where the dowel hole in the DQT is not big enough (nor is it round!) to fit the I-5 dowel. Nor is there enough material around this hole in the DQT to just bore it out to fit the I-5 dowel.
We thought a bit about the solution, and based on the amount of material on the bellhousing, we figured the best solution would be to both machine out the hole in the Dxx trans, and machine down the dowel a bit. This obviously is not an easy task, especially if you have bolted the car back together.
But we did both agree, running only one dowel is not such a good plan...
HTH,
Keith "1 day till S4 reunification" Maddock
