You can heat shrink but *NEVER* solder any O2 wires.  In O2's  oxygen
reference actually is THRU the wires, solder can interrupt that.  Crimp and
heat shrink would be the best way.

Beware this especially if splice not done at least a few feet away from the
sensor. Also any splice should be soldered and heat shrunk.
