I’ve heard of this « no soldering on O2 sensor » quite a bit. I still
don’t understand why. The O2 sensor is an electric device and, if you
know how to do it, soldering is the best electric connection you can do
– except some fancy connectors used in RC cars but rarely used in real
cars. Does this story come from good mechanics who were bad in
electronics?

BTW, what do you mean by “Oxygen reference is thru the wires”? Only
electric signal go through this wires, right?

Vincent.

You can heat shrink but *NEVER* solder any O2 wires. In O2's oxygen
reference actually is THRU the wires, solder can interrupt that. Crimp
and heat shrink would be the best way.

Beware this especially if splice not done at least a few feet away from
the
sensor. Also any splice should be soldered and heat shrunk.
