I'd suggest that one look for the vent in the top of the 02, I don't think
that is standard practice anymore, because of the "clogging factor".

reference air is taken from immediately _outside_ the casing of the
sensor itself (eg _near_ the wires at the top of the sensor but not
actually _through_ them).  There is typically a small hole in the sensor
body at the top through which the sample is gathered.
