Billiam,
Yes the drain plug cleaning did the trick! I'm so happy that was an easy
fix. I have the proper plugs enroute with hopes of them solving the high
boost miss.
I cleaned her up over the w/e and must admit that the interior is stellar.
All bulbs illuminate (even the seat heaters and rearview mirror). The FM
radio has VERY poor/unacceptable reception compared to my 93 and cuts in out
in an annoying fashion. The AM radio doesn't work at all, just hear static.
I think there is something wrong there. The CD changer works well, so it
must be a AM/FM thing. Despite the Sub, the radio doesn't offer the bass of
my 93.
Outside, the black paint on the textured rocker panels near the rear wheels
is somewhat faded/missing and will need a respray to look A1. There are a
couple of paintless dent removal dings that need to be addressed. Other
than the standard misc. rock chips on the hood, the car exterior is nice.
Wheels are good, with odd Nokia high performance summer tires. They are a
little loud and grip is only OK
Other things I notice/enjoy:
- The starter motor sounds better on the avant (weird, I know)
- The door open chime is much nicer than the Air horn of the 93
- The 95's HVAC and Radio illumination appears redder and my orangish 93
- The chrome rings around the gauges _make_ the dash
Oh, how is your suspension tuned? I have some Bilstein sports to use on ?
spring. I know Eibachs sag on the boot end, how about the H&R? Now, I just
have to figure out how long it will take (ie. is it worth it) to swap the
Carbon Fiber into the Avant. Looks to be a PITA du jour.
Ed

Hey Ed,
Taunt if you must but
My advanced tweeters are so stealthy that they are virtually invisible to
humans and only audible to dogs.
I swear to god your car lOOked so nice I would have bought it myself cept I
already have 6, my stupid daughters dont/cant drive stick and I have only 2
garages.
I snuck out yesterday to get Sammy the walmart schwinn mtn bike (very nice
red aluminum frame.. of course) and while bombing around grinning cheshire
like, I thought man that eds gonna love that avant once its rs2 equipped.
BTW did cleaning the drain plug and changing spark plugs fix your problems?
FWIW my spec 4 racer neighbor droves us down to the bulls game via his 540i
last saturday nite and while its a very nice car, there's not much to get
excited about for all that dough IME. A little softer seats would filter
some of the road bumps of the taught suspension. IME
