Here's the owner manual info on IR key and seat programming.
    http://www.elektro.com/~audi/memory/

For the remote door lock operation, you need to make sure that
the sensor in the doorpost is clean, and that the key has a good
battery and that the key's IR light is clean and unobstructed.

That being said, follow the manual - point the key at the IR sensor
in the outside of the door pilar post, then operate the key's
transmitter button, then manually unlock the door with the key.

Press the key's transmitter button again. If nothing happens, then
manually lock the door with the key. This should syncronize the
key and the IR locking system. You should now be able to unlock
and lock the doors with the key's IR transmitter.

If that does not do it, then start from the beginning and follow
this instruction manual to program the key code into the central locking
system control unit:

This involves having two keys, one in the ignition switch and also
the key that you are trying to program into the control unit.
Obviously, the key in the ignition does not have to be an IR type key.
