Sorry Paul, but you wanted the chrome rings around the gauges.  The halo is
a direct result of the reflection from all that added chrome ;-)

Seriously.  Simple solution.  Just dial the dimmer down a tad.  Makes the
glow around the needles and top of the gauges go away and it is still
brighter than the stock 1.1w bulbs at full tilt.
