[s-cars] Vacuum boost monitor installed -finally

Yesterday I finally completed the install of my VBM in the IC behind the
auto tranny blank plate. This was more of a PITA than I expected. Removing
and modifying the IC proved to be relatively straight forward. The IC came
out after a little "persuasion" after which the blank can be removed by
loosening two small screws. The blank is moled ABS plastic which is easily
cut to provide an opening for the display. Power was tapped from a switched
power lug in the driver's footwell as was grounding from the lug at the kick
panel. Tapping into the hose by the ECU turned out to be the most difficult
part of the install as this hose is VERY stiff/hard plastic and turned out
to be extremely difficult to tap with the "T" fitting as the ID was too
small. I had to flare it using a heat gun and tapered steel scribe. Not
fun given the tight quarters in the ECU area with carpet folded back etc..
I don't think the fitting will be popping off (knock CF). I put it all back
together and the unit functions nicely. I set it up for a max boost of 25
psi in anticipation of the pending MTM 1+ mod. The unit employs 10 LED's
arranged in a tight row. I have it mounted vertically so they read vacuum
from the top down and boost from the bottom up. At full boost, I'm
currenty seeing about 16 psi (no engine mods). Thanks to everyone who
supplied help during my install. It's great to have a group to turn to when
questions arise.
