[s-cars] not again!! (propellar shaft)

Hi Jan;
The shaft has to be perfectly aligned when the bearing is bolted to the
chassis. Audi has a tool for doing this - it's a long bar which bolts to
both halves of the driveshaft and holds them in alignment while you shim
the carrier bearing. The Bentley has data on the shims - as I recall there
is a certain clearance required between the shim and the chassis with the
tool in place. The fore-and-aft clearance is adjusted by pushing the shaft
to the rear, marking the carrier position, pushing it to the front, make
another mark, and bolt the carrier halfway between the two marks.
If the shaft is not aligned properly, you'll get all sorts of noises and
vibration on acceleration or deceleration.

well well well.. as i wrote on saturday everything seemed fine after my
propellar shaft "rebuild"..... to day i started noticing som noice.. not
rattling or anything, but more like a buzzing sound comming at around 50
mph and when i haul ass its like a vibration, but not like before.. sound
more like someone is drilling a hole in the car somewhere.. i got home and
went for som heavy acceleration test in first gear... sheeesh.. it really
sounds bad.. almost like the shaft is rubbing towards the some metal
underneath the car...
i'm thinking of going under the car again tonight even if i dont really
want to spend more hours underneath there.
i have 3 questions also.
Will the position of the shaft be different if the car is jacked up or not?
i dont think so?
And the carrier bearing mounting on the car can be adjustet both sideways
and forward and backwards... i positioned it after tightening the shaft in
both ends so the bearing was kinda in neautral..opinions?
And can my gearbox or rear diff have taken some serious damage after i
drove 3 days with the broken shaft that made the car shake and rattle?? i
guess i drove about 30 miles al together before taking it of... only
carefull driving.

*that does NOT want to rebuild again!*
