Under acceleration through certain RPM ranges in
certain gears I hear a rattling noise from underneath
the car. It sounds like it might be directly below me
- or slightly in front and below. Noise is a metallic
rattle- like shaking ball bearings really fast in a
coffee can. Not extremely loud but definately
noticeable. It appears to be associated w/ these
conditions:
1st & 2nd- don't hear any noise
3rd- 2500-2600 rpm - rattle
4th - 2200-2400 rpm - rattle
5th - somewhere around 1800 - about 2100 (basically
"lugging the motor") - rattle(don't normally run it
like this -but this was in the name of science)
If I am out of these specific ranges - there is no
rattle. Also disappears when I let off the gas.
If I start below the the range and accelerate through,
the rattle appears in the specified range and
disappears after.
Any ideas? I've only had the car for 2.5 weeks, and
I'm trying to make sure this is not a major problem.
Also, thanks to everyone who replied to my earlier
question about the Bose radio code.
