[s-cars] Of Water & a new Kind of Waterfest wetter

In my research, Aquamist & Spearco both made/make kits (not so sure where
Spearco is now at since their buy out by the group that runs Turbonetics.)
Aquamist seem to be the "Cadillac" of the industry ~ but pricey though.

I think there's an Ausie group that also is into making water injection kits
available through www.autospeed.com Autospeed IIRC did at least one, if
not several articles on water sprayer &/or injection kits for, your choice,
either spraying down the IC externally, or for those who prefer, injecting a
mist under boost directly into the intake charge. FWIW, if one were going
to go to the time, trouble & expense of setting up a water system I can't
see spending the time on a half measure like spritzing the outside of the IC
~ I'm with Bob (right Bob?), and think you should go with the injection
system. I thought I saved off a copy of the AutoSpeed articles in Adobe pdf
format, but they aren't immediately popping out of a directory search.
There are some anecdotal lister experiences with water injection of previous
low tech non-Audi rides buried in the list archives someplace. As I recall
Igor had a Lada at one time that was run on Vodka & Water :-).

What no tonic and lime juice!? I ran an after-market turbocharged 1974 Opel
Manta with a very, very basic water injection device (in lieu of a waste
gate or any other kind of boost management control system other than my
right foot, and an engine pyrometer plumbed into the exhaust just behind the
turbo discharge. Operating instructions. "Well try to keep the water supply
bottle filled (it was small), & BTW if you see that little needle on the
pyrometer gauge touch 1,400, well that's probably a really, really good
time to take your foot OFF THE GAS for awhile.

~Mike, Bob-
~Can you share any knowledge you have of vendors that have a water
~injection setup that is well suited to our Audis?
~
~I know a local lister is getting an Aquamist (?) setup, wondering if
~that's the way to go and how you all plan on feeding the system, in
~terms of water supply, etc.
