[s-cars] low speed metallic sound

howdy all from colorado,
       i'm pretty new to the audi s-car scene.  i've recently purchased a 95
s6 avant and it makes a clanking sound at low speeds, intermittently
(regardless of when i'm turning the wheel).  it also makes the sound
sometimes when i shift from first to second.  any suggestions?  thanks
