Sorry, I've already exceeded my level of competence. One could
conceivably package the entire code in a wrapper that intercepted bad
calls and made the correct call, but that would call for great skill.
Presumably, the existing code wasn't written for Win2k. Win2k will run
almost anything, but not everything.
That said, there is a compatibility mode capability in Win2k. If you
build a shortcut to the program in question, you can modify the
compatibility mode via a tab in "Properties." You might want to
experiment to see if this does anything.
