Just a little bit of extra credit here.  For those of you from the old
school, you may remember that back in 1995 I had a web site called
Autobahnia USA.  The site catered to Audi quattro owners AND Merkur
XR4ti owners.  It also had what may have been the first online Audi
owner registry... which at the time was a bit too ambitious as I found
out once the entries started flooding in!  ;-)

Anyhow, a fragment of the XR4ti site remains albeit in a slightly

Yes, I own a bi-plane X-RATI   ;-)   The Merkur was my first car and to
this day has covered just 83,000 miles.  Not too bad for an '86.   FYI,
the bi-plane models were sold from 1985 through 1987.  The single wing
XR4ti was sold for '88 and '89 when the car was discontinued here in the
USA.

The Merkur is no Audi 'S' car but I still enjoy the unique styling.
Even today the car will still generate questions at the gas station or
from the Domino's Pizza guy, "What in the hell is an X-ER-RATI?!"
