[s-cars] all around good replacement tires for 2000 S4

I had the Michelin Pilot Sports, Bridgestone S03 and Toyo T1s on the
same car.

My E55 came stock with the Pilot. Replaced them with S03 at 15kmiles
(Pilot down to wearmark). Had permanent flat spots on both S03 front
pair and got replacement pair from TireRack (problem gone).

Currently I am using T1S on aftermarket wheels on my E55.

Impression:

Pilot Sports give the best response to steering input. S03 and T1S not
as responsive as Pilot.

T1S give the best ride and noise characteristic. Pilot and S03 not as
plush. S03 tend to generate somekind of white noise in the background.

T1S is by far the lightest tire of the bunch. S03 is on the porky
side. In my case, S03 is 3 and 4 lb heavier per tire on the front and
rear respectively.

Pilot and S03 is slightly grippier than T1S but not something that will
make a significant diff. The Pilot seem to require more warming up of
its temp before giving good traction.

I just sold my set of less than 500 miles S03 to another E55 owner

For the price, the Pilot is just not worth the extra $. Can't go wrong
on either the S03 and T1S

I've had Sumis HTRZ2 on my old E420 and was pretty impressed by them.

Note: Anytime you change from old/worn tire to new set of tire, you
will usually feel that you have a much nicer car. One reason being you
have more/thicker rubber to the ground.

I felt the same thing when I switch from my worn Pilot to new S03. But
comparing to my colleague E55 with newer Pilot did not produce the same
impression.
