Dave,
I certainly dot dispute your view on this matter, but I have often wondered
why. In other cars I have seen as much as 60hp on a stock v8 by doing nothing
more than finding the right heat range and getting the carb or FI tuned. Most
of us dot have the luxury with playing around with the FI, but common tuning
practice is to reduce the heat range as cylinder pressure climbs to keep a
more timely and even burn. The fact that the 2 most different configurations
in the S$ hi-po world (MTM 1+ and full blown/upgraded RS2 engines) use the
same plug despite much greater flow and boost levels in the rs2 and a
difference of at least 100hp?? I dot understand why there are not more plugs
in use for this car. While the boost levels continue to surprise some very
knowledgeable people the engine cant be that hard on the newer state of the
art plugs. I have hints that my new 'package' from Tommy A. may have plugs of
a different heat range and with a max overboost of 1.9bar I would hope they
were a bit cooler. Has anyone ever played around with some of the other
plugs? Is there some special way Bosch regulates the heat range in these
plugs??
