To second Dave F's response, I'm more than thrilled with the $ per hp spent
on my MTM chip / 3 bar PT. And that's a great price, I think I only managed
20% off. I don't think it's a matter of loosing low end grunt, I think it's
more an issue of gaining mid/high range. Thus, the transition from low to
mid/high gives me the 'feel' that I've lost some low end, as the MTM has a
sort of on/off feel to the power (Taka's description, pretty accurate).
Gary, I'm seeing 23#, FYI (also run K&N / Stebro cat-back).
Regardless, the driveability is awesome, I love it. 'May' not be the fancy
'tunable' chip and may be boiler plate, etc., but for those simply wishing
quick, easy, massive power increase, it's good enough for the coin spent.
As I and others have previously stated about comparing MTM to a TAP set up,
there was ZERO comparison in the TAP car I drove. Disclaimer: that car was
running the older 2.5 bar PT I believe(?). MTM's use of the 3 bar PT made a
big difference, though maybe a 3 bar TAP chip would feel better than the one
I'd driven. Have to find me one here local to compare mine to. That 2.5(?)
bar car felt marginally better than stock, but not much.
In the FWIW department, my wholesaler just sent his MTM 3 bar to Hoppen for
the RS2 upgrade like yesterday, and will be installing the RS2 turbo / EM in
his '95 within the coming weeks. Since we're both running the same neu S6
Avus', and will have (next week!) the same suspension & brake set up (though
I'll have the exhaust / filter he won't), we'll run his car and my car back
to back with my AC-22 and I'll try and gather some data for us poorer folk
to aspire to and see what #'s the $ will buy. I think he managed the
purchase for about $2,000. Interestingly, he's being told not to bother
with the MAF, injectors, or cam. Thoughts???? (I know a few of us have one
or two left in the ole noggin)
Aaron, got your check, hope you rec'd the 10-disc in good order?
Regards,
Paul

'95 //S6 soon to be lower and 'slower', but not SOON enough (patience was
never a virtue of mine)
