In most cases the HP gotten from V8's is the Carb or FI modifications. The
change in plugs just keeps the burn in the proper heat range. Since we are
already hammering the plugs with a lot of turbo heat, there isn't as big a
need to change heat range with increased power. Until we reach yours and a
few other's power level that is. But the large intercooler may be bringing
it back within the plug's range. Anyway, what I don't understand is what is
different about the Bosch Platin plugs that make them so expensive and the
only plugs that survive our motors (and turbo abuse). And I agree that
there needs to be some heat range options under normal circumstances but
what is SO different about these plugs? Is it an expanded heat range or
what? Anyone know about these plugs?

Dave,
I certainly dot dispute your view on this matter, but I have often wondered
why. In other cars I have seen as much as 60hp on a stock v8 by doing
nothing more than finding the right heat range and getting the carb or FI
tuned. Most of us dot have the luxury with playing around with the FI, but
common tuning practice is to reduce the heat range as cylinder pressure
climbs to keep a more timely and even burn. The fact that the 2 most
different configurations in the S$ hi-po world (MTM 1+ and full
blown/upgraded RS2 engines) use the same plug despite much greater flow and
boost levels in the rs2 and a difference of at least 100hp?? I dot
understand why there are not more plugs in use for this car. While the boost
levels continue to surprise some very knowledgeable people the engine cant
be that hard on the newer state of the art plugs. I have hints that my new
'package' from Tommy A. may have plugs of a different heat range and with a
max overboost of 1.9bar I would hope th! ey were a bit cooler. Has anyone
ever played around with some of the other plugs? Is there some special way
Bosch regulates the heat range in these plugs??
