I have owned stock, IA3 mit K24, MTM mit RS2, and Lehmann mit RS2. Have also
driven/ TAP, MTM K24 with and without 3 bar, RS2 with assorted soft
ware/induction/fuel systems. Unfortunately Haps and Brian Bilottis car were
'out of service' when I saw them so I can't claim to have experience the
effects of "Happersizing" also known as "Madly in search of 400+ HP
sickness".
My SUBJECTIVE impressions are:

1) a well sorted RS2 using some real high test is substancially faster than
any K24 after 3500 RPM or so. With cam and exhaust lag is simular to stock
and performance from 1900-2800 is simular to MTM1/IA3. Of course, it's a
hell of a lot more expensive to do right and you need to have a source of 93+
or racing gas so you can sneak a few gallons of 105 R+M/2 in every tank to
maximize your results.......... Also a large percentage of the RS2 cars out
there are not 'well sorted' with a mish-mash of software and mods and not
running good enough gas unless you have something much better than the 91
swill they sell as super here in CA. 91 octane and stage3 mit RS2 eats plaugs
at a minimum

2)Paraphrazing what Ned Richie told me about 3 bar sensors: it only increases
power in the ~2900-4000 RPM range which is where it allows that
OVER-overboost to ~21 -24 psi This will increase your max torque numbers
becasue the peak torque ends end up in that range. Max HP will not increase
because you will not hit peak HP until higher in the RPM range when you are
pumping max air thru the engine.
Summary: 3 bar with an appropriate chip will give you and increased kick
around 3000RPM (it will pull back boost to prevent over RPMing the turbo much
sooner on a with approptiate K24 software vs RS2 software>give a subjective
feel of running out of steam early w/ K24). Non 3 bar chips seem to have a
much smoother power curve vs the big peak just above 3000RPM with a 3 bar.

 3) MTM 1+ provides excellent kick with the 3 bar, but it has a very steep
curve on throttle /boost map. Seems like you are either full boost or no
boost and not much in between. Also seems to have a very aggressive ignition
curve that is very unforgiving of anything less than 93 R+M/2 IME but gives
good throttle responce if you are not tickling the knock sensors. You will be
testing your knock sensors on CA 91. Good for stop lights, great for passing
and onramps, not so refined for curvy roads, tight tracks and everyday
driving IMO.
Think IAs 3+ was very simular but had a little less aggresive ignition
timing.
  4) Currently run Lehmann software for the RS2 (there are several versions)
for the stock MAF and injectors. It definetly has a more linear map bringing
on boost more progressivily (vs the 'binary' on off nature of the MTM as you
increase throttle. It also runs a less aggresive ignition curve (less time
testing you knock sensors) on non racing gas. I definitely prefer it for RS2
street applications........

  5) I believe that MTM is the US authorized distibutor for Lehmann and that
Anderson, 2B ect get their chipsets thru Mike Hoppen.

May the boost be with you,
Paul

Trying work out a deal w/ the devil for an RS6. Local dealers want MSRP +10K
for........;) Might be worth if after Frank's review.........
928 GTS or M5 or RS6??????
