Dave,
As each POS has 3 positions x's 2=6 and since you have 5 cylinders,
there is one position unused.  You can switch the bad connection to the
open position.  I know it's been done, but confess I do not know how to
switch these wires.  Archival search of old yahoo site may reveal it.
Here is the layout of each POS though; starting with POS furthest
towards passenger side controls cylinders 1,2,3.  Next POS, closest to
driver controls 4 &5 & one open.
Since (of course:(  one is upside down, I am not sure what is considered
the top.  However, if you held both POS's up with the sides with 3
connections each on top;
they would go simply   1 2 3 4 5 X     x=not used.
Figure out how to switch the wires and you're back in biz & >$200
richer.
BTW after I had to pay for one of these in an emergency situation sort
of, I bought a junkyard one for $150 & just keep it in glove box.
