Guys

To clear up soome loose ends from my posts.

I believe the BMW truck driven round the ring in 8ish minutes had a V12 eng=
ine in it. By way of comparison, during development, the RS6 did 8,000 km r=
ound the Ring with 5 drivers per day lapping in 8:40. Going for it, the chi=
ef tester conceded that 8:10 was eminently do-able, on slicks the car would=
be comfortably sub 8 minutes. By way of comparison the Ring Taxi is suppos=
ed to do 9 min laps, and that is quick, one highly experienced lister in a =
RS4 managed 10:30 after a few laps, so we are not talking dawdling here.

Audi presently offers 18, 19 and 20 inch wheels. However what does the cust=
omer want - good handling or the cushioning of a taller sidewall? In Europe=
I can live with big wheels and stiffer springs and shocks - in the US, the=
Principal Passenger's comfort often determines how 'sporting' the handling=
 and ride is.

Incidentally, I learnt that Michelin is producing a special high speed tyre=
for the 19" rims for the RS6 - described as "the stickoiness of slicks, wi=
th good wet performance", sounds too good to be true, but in the spirit of=
PERFORMANCE we won't judge it till we drive it, will we Scott?

I mentioned some upcoming Audis, and got a BAA - corporate line from one qu=
arter - BAA back to you, and get under the whether - this information is no=
t from the suits, its from those that design and test, and I'll leave it th=
at vague to prevent any comebacks, OKAY? But I have been assured that the n=
ext RS4 will have a much greater rear drive and weight bias.

The new S4 is now seen out and about, and its damn quick.

HTH
