James, as you know I have had a similar problem and just replaced the cam
sensor, and got the same stuff codes/lights bells whistles lean idle, etc.
again. After finding thisparts replacement didnt work, the throttle posn.
sensor was checked and is not functioning. I will put this newest part on and
see if that helps with rough idle and lean mix at idle, but at least I know
it is bad. If the posn. sensor doesnt cure the idle problem it can only be
the water temp semsor (someone let me know what else can cause this will have
checked vacuum, timing, changed cam sensor, the to be installed throttle
posn. sensor, new idle stabilizer, and the unturned stone , the water temp
sensor). I will get the throttle posn. semsor on the car by Weds. and get
back to you. To Aaron, 1 rule I am learning in the Audis is not to take a
fault code too seriously, as a fault code that will indicate one problem can
be caused by another. If you need a good cheap cam sensor that works just as
good as the old one does let me know. I would after my latest experience
advise you to get the throttle posn. sensor tested and check the idle
stabilizer (I have a good spare here too) and the water temp sensor. Then if
they are OK spend the 2 hours it takes (not to mention the $300 part) to
change the cam sensor (and back if your'e cheap). Hope my costly mistakes
(assuming parts were bad before testing) help keep you from making them
yourself.
Rod
