I think some of the list mail is being sent in a peculiar fashion.
It may be how the list responds to mail sent to it.  Looking at
the email headers I see some unusual header lines:

x-plaintext: Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative
   ...
Content-Type: text/plain

Which makes the following line show up at the beginning of
emails from the list:

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]

  ------------------------

I'm running mailman here, and it doesn't generate these headers:
    x-plaintext:

My mailman server does generate a header like this:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My mailman server seems to be user-friendly to all the subscribers.
I wonder if the audifans "x-plaintext" header is causing this?
