Good news and bad news regarding wheel fitment:

Tested the following wheels:

A!Avantgarde 17x8 ET32: No way will these fit w/o a 15mm spacer or
thereabouts- the hub mounting face and spokes interfere with the
caliper.

UrS6 Avus 16x7.5 ET37(?): Very close, but they will not fit- the outer
edge of the caliper hits the rim.

AZEV Type A 17x8 ET35: No problem, tons of clearance, have photos.

Momo Arrow 16x7.5 ET35: No way will these fit, spoke clearance nowhere
close.

A4 7-spoke 16x7 ET45: No way, again spoke clearance.

I have not tested the A6 2.7T 16x7 ET45, but I am not optimistic. The
996
caliper is very blocky on the outer contour, although the distance
between
the rotor face and the outer plane of the caliper body is the same
between
the 928GTS/993tt/"Big Red" calipers and the 996 monoblock. Where the
"Big Red"
has tapered ends, the 996 is much more blunt and therein lies the
fitment
issue, although the "Big Red" caliper is visually quite a bit longer
than the
996 caliper.

My presumption (and you really should never presume! :-)) is that
Porsche never
intended to fit 996 calipers under a 16" wheel and it shows.

Does anyone know if there is a standard in wheel flanges? Meaning, is
the difference
between outer rim and inner rim diameter standardized for all wheels in
a given
diameter? I wonder if there might be some wheels in 16" outer diameter
that may
fit, just that I haven't found them yet.

The rotor face to caliper body measurement is 60mm- forgot to measure
what the rotor
face offset is for the Euro S8 323x30mm rotor, I have the measurements
for the
BIRA Sys2UFO rotor somewhere. It is this offset that causes clearance
problems for
the A!Avantgarde wheel. Strangely, the UrS6 Avus wheel has lots more
clearance than
the A!Avantgarde.

GregA- you may have alternative suggestions, but my standing
recommendation for BIRA Sys2UFO
is to only purchase/use wheels that will clear the S4tt HP-2 brakes-
this fitment should
easily clear Sys2UFO. All other wheels would be on a trial basis.

Regardless, IMHO, the UFO equipped cars deserve a proper 17" wheel
fitment anyway- the cars
can easily take advantage of the plus 2 fitment as they are severely
undertired from OEM.
I will be fitting 255/40R17 tires this week to try and dial-out some of
the understeer that
I'm getting due to the lack of traction.
