Hey-
Just an update on my recent questions:
Thanks to all who responded with ideas and offers of help.
First - car seems to be dried out. Was a trial and error process but car is
now running 95% again and i am able to pull codes. So far have retrieved: 1
-altitude sensor and 2 -over rich/lean condition/vacuum leak/o2 sensor failure
(which narrows it down a little bit!)
Altitude sensor checks ok per Bentley as far as voltage goes... I have a
feeling the connector was damp and that's what set off the code.
As far as #2, i'm going to run the car and see if things correct themselves.
When the engine was running poorly before it was missing badly, leading to a
lot of fuel that must have gone right out the exhaust, so maybe this code will
sort itself out.
Everyone: If you have not checked your drains lately (cowl area), I would
strongly recommend that you do so. My drains were clogged and the cowl area of
the engine compartment spilled over with water, causing the passenger
compartment to get saturated as well. I make it a habit to pick the leaves
out of there, but i didn't check the actual drain which was packed full.
I'm going to start doing this at every oil change, if not more frequently.
Second - the insurance adjuster and body shop seemed to have agreed on the sum
of around $4500. (FYI - the dealer came in almost $800 less than this body
shops quote of $5600. interesting...) Surprisingly, 2 used LKQ doors are in
the US. Car should go in next week, and he assures me that the 3 stage Pearl
can be matched. His experience is all high-end european: Porsche, Audi,
Mercedes, BMW, etc. He sounds like he knows what he's doing, and I'm keeping
my fingers crossed.
Thanks for everything.
