[s-cars] S2 Tyre Wear / Tracking Specs.

Hi all,

The front tyres of my Coupé QT S2 are wearing much quicker than the rears,
particularly on the inside shoulders. Maybe an increased wear rate is to be
expected with the front doing the steering and being heavier. What I have
noticed is that the inside 50% of the tyre tread on both fronts is getting
much hotter than the outside 50%.

Compared to my '88 A80Q, the front wheels seem to have more camber. So I
took it to have the wheels aligned and they said the camber is within
manufacturers specs. (albeit at the high end) and that with wide tyres
(225s) and a heavy car this wear is to be expected!

I have a couple of questions:

1) Will reducing the camber to the middle of the specified range (or even
minimum) help? N.B. I have recently installed polyurethane bushes (front
only), so the wheel camber should be held more firmly in position. I don't
race or do track days, but do hammer it on the road, including smoking
brakes & the occasional sideways moment.

2) Does anyone know what the Audi specs are for camber and toe on the S2
Coupé, or where I can find this information? N.B. the previous time I had
the wheel alignment checked, on a different machine, the 'Factory Specs.'
were different.

Thanks,

Ian
