[s-cars] Instrument cluster ?

Whatever happened to the project undertaken by the intrepid lister (whose
name escapes me, sorry) working on boost gauges to match the OEM gauge look?
BTW, I agree that boost gauges aren't necessary for full time viewing , but
when things are running normally, they do provide a source of sporadic
entertainment. When things go "burp", it's awfully nice to have them right
at hand.

Peter,
I thought this was pretty slick too, but I must try to talk you out of doing
it. I always like clean mods that can be removed and never known they were
there in the first place. And, removed easily is even better!
I saw an idea I liked much better. Friend of mine bought a white AutoMeter
guage for like $50 that came with everything to hook it up, and then the
little AutoMeter metal bracket... He then bought a piece of clear plastic
(thicker stuff) and cut a mounting plane for his boost guage and mounted it
to it on an angle. Then hooked it up through the glove box. He mounted it
to the leading edge of the glovebox (fits so perfect it looks like it was
meant to be in there) by adhearing the plastic mounting plane with velcro.
He can have the whole thing removed in 5 minutes and it works great.
For me, a boost guage is not something I need to look at all the time, but
nice to check and make sure I'm getting full boost every once in a while.
For that type of person, I think this is the perfect solution!
You can even open your glovebox just part of the way and it will hold, and
that seems to be the perfect viewing position for looking at the guage.
And, the AutoMeter guage has lighting, so you can read it at night.
I will take some pictures of this guage/mounting this weekend with a digital
camera. I need to take a bunch of pics of my car this weekend anyways as it
is now for sale.
Later,
Dan
