Thanks Lance and Audi crew.
I am torn about these warrantys.  I have only owned my car about 1 month
but I have every receipt and it seems to have been well taken care of.
Major items replaced are - Timing belt, Rack, Bomb, PS pump.
The question remains - what sort of average repair costs can be expected
over a 3 yr period.  Average to light use (10Kmi/yr)  Miles from 70000
to 100000.  Winter climate.

My latest insurance quote is 1150$ for 3 yrs and unlimited miles (Great
Lakes Warranty Corp)
If I were a travelling salesman and drove lots of miles this would be a
no brainer.
FYI the coverage includes some of the items I have heard are commonly
replaced on our cars - Suspension components, PS pump and rack, Brake
bomb, AC stuff, Power seat and sunroof stuff, Turbo components.
Not covered - Main seals, Valve guides and rings, clutch and brake wear
items, Heater core.

Anybody have expense records for non maintenance items over 3 yr,
30000mi period?
