Will CARFAX work on Canadian cars?

	I recently came across a 1996 S6 going for $21000 Canadian... That's
$13700
US. Get ready to gulp...the car only has 53000 KM and comes with a
warranty!

I couldn't resist taking a look at it. Nice Black on Black, with
only 53000
KM! Ding and scratch on passenger side finder, few scratches on
front bumper
and the bumper seemed to hang slightly lower on the driver side.
Back
headrests missing, phone missing, mats are finished, driver side
mirror need
to be changed. I couldn't resist, so I took it for a test drive. The
car
idles rough, and lacked power, I suspect something with the turbo or
	otherwise.

Now the kicker is that the previous owner spent $3000 CAD on an
extended
warranty! so the car is covered until May 2003 or 113K km. So
effectively
there should be no issue with the mechanics as it should be covered?
Right?

I'm sooooo so tempted to buy this car and sell my S4. Something just
doesn't
seem kosher with the whole deal. This guy is a reseller of cars, and
he
bought it from the local Audi dealer who got it from a lady that
traded it
in. So I'm sure the dealer made a profit from him, and he's selling
to make
a profit, she must have traded that car for dirt cheap or there is
something
fishy in the whole deal ! and I get the feeling it's the mechanics.

My worry is the whole after market warranty issue, can those things
be
	trusted?

	Cheers, /J.

After driving my "new" S6 for about 1000miles, here's my
report on
what you can get for $9500. Black/ecru, 161000 miles. Tap stage 1
with K&N
and wastegate spring. Extra blizzaks on steel wheels included
Interior a
8.5 out of 10 after thorough cleaning. Driver seat shows normal
character
lines, no tears, has spring pushing through backrest, not real bad,
other
seats very nice. Carpet and mats very nice with slight wear under
driver
foot area. Everything works except outside temp and driver side map
light,
switch broken.. 2 keyless remotes both work along with alarm. Radio,
great
sound, very bad reception, no AM. Exterior 7.5. Paint still shiny
though a
buffing is needed, 4 dings on pass side, scrape on rear bumper. 2
small
dings in hood. Missing S6 emblem in front. Windshield and headlight
lenses
sandblasted, new windshield already installed. Dunlap SP 8000's
about 75%.
Wheels just OK. No peeling but some scratches and curb rash.
Operation a 9.
Runs perfectly up to redline.Motor very quiet with smooth idle.
Slight brake
mushiness, stock pads and rotors good. Fluid looks dark. No strange
noises
from susp. No fluid leaks. Needs thermostat. No belly pan, engine
was very
dirty. Can feel slight play in front susp. Perhaps some new
bushings/motor
mounts will cure this. Seem to have most records with timing beltt
service
at 145000. Hope this helps anyone else searching for similar a car.
Looking
forward to driving and upgrading this car for the next 100000
miles. Knock
	on wood...
