James,
It does sound suspicious. Disappearing records? come on!
I can tell you from experience (Uncle's/Father in the Car sales biz) that =
it's imperative to move cars. Profit comes from sustained cash flow. Even i=
f that means selling at wholesale to another dealer. Simply the dealers hav=
e to churn inventory, or once stale on the lot, a car won't sell to the pub=
lic.
Still once you get under the car some truth can be found in the inspection.=
Over spray, bondo on the frame, rippled bodywork all indicate a quick buff=
and sell methodoly.
I am a highly devoted car fan, but I never allow myself to get too attached=
to any particular car. It's a machine after all.
There are many many fine examples. Particularly in used car markets, follow=
you intuition. And wait for the right price and right car and you won't go=
wrong.

PO, was supposedly a wealthy woman driver, who may not have noticed the lack
of power... possible. The mileage, I checked with Audi of Canada, and last
warranty fix was in 98 at 29,000. So that's 15K a year, at that rate the car
should be at 90K not 53K...but it's possible. I was told the car was only
serviced at the dealer, and to speak to a specific dealer rep, so I did, but
all service records miraculously disappeared from the computer the day I
called due to a screw up with the PO new car and her old car...strange but
possible. The warranty seems legit on the surface, but would take some
looking into to ensure another possible variable doesn't turn up...
A few too many variables for my skeptical paranoid mind... I guess the best
would be to spend some time, put the car on the lift and thoroughly check
the car out, that's really the only way to know for sure. I'm always
skeptical when a dealer sells a car to a wholesaler rather than directly
themselves, specifically when it's an Audi dealer and the car is an Audi. I
get the feeling somebody's hiding something, I wouldn't be surprise if the
car previously had major damage, but quick inspection didn't reveal
anything, although that wasn't in my frame of mind at the time...
Cheers, /James.
BTW: CARFAX doesn't work with Canadian cars, a friendly lister tried this
for me yesterday.

James -
One wonders why, if the extended warranty covered all the mechanical
items, the PO didn't have them fixed? Hmmm. You may want to look into the
company providing the warranty.

Now the kicker is that the previous owner spent $3000 CAD on
an extended
warranty! so the car is covered until May 2003 or 113K km.
So effectively
there should be no issue with the mechanics as it should be
covered? Right?
