[s-cars] MTM Hoppen S4 software upgrade GP update

Hello All,
I have been reluctant to bring up this topic again as it has been much
debated in the past. However, I was just beginning to feel comfortable with
my decision to join the ECU upgrade GP, when this comes along. What exactly
is the issue with the MTM upgrade as marketed by Hoppen?
I can understand that those who are carrying out major upgrades may have
some requirements that cannot be met "out of the box". But for guys like me
whose intent is to limit upgrades to some new shocks, tyres, upgraded front
brakes and some mild chip tuning is this really an issue?
Perhaps I am over simplifying, but I thought that any of the recognised Audi
tuners should be perfectly capable of squeezing out some extra HP by
twiddling the engine mapping a bit without putting the mechanicals in
serious jeopardy.
Most of the information I have seen quotes similar HP and Torque gains
although some tuners include 3 bar sensors, others waste gate springs, and
yet others both, and prices seem to be fairly consistent.
Can someone explain to me (us?) what I(we) should be worrying about when
deciding on a basic ECU upgrade?
Thanks,
Len

now)

I would NOT support a cookie cutter tuner (Hoppen). This bunch is totally
against doing or bringing any of the exciting SW avail. I know because I
have
offered them a bunch of money to do it. I dont care for the no-tech
approach,
and dont ever think of getting any support after sale. As you can see I dont
care for them, on a par with TAP for different reasons. Go with Ned or Tommy
if you want more that mainstream SW.
