[s-cars] Spanked by a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4

I used to lust after the Galant VR-4, until I owned a DSM for a rather short period of 6 months.

The advantages of a VR-4 over the UrS are few, but powerful, namely
A) about 500-600 lbs less weight IIRC
B) higher US sales volume (3000 over 2 years vs 1500 over 5? )
C) much larger variety of go-fast parts, mostly due to the fact the majoritty of the powertrain is similar to the DSM coupe's..
D) Insane level of sleeper -styling

There are, however, several disadvantages to that car, which is why I own a UrS:
A) extremely boring exterior styling
B) even more boring and tacky interior styling
C) mediocre reliability in stock form
D) even worse reliability in modified form
E) "bowl of wallpaper-paste" shifter
F) economy car roots - flimsy over all fit/finish and feel
G) less driver and passenger space

Items C, E, and G were enough to kill it for me, especially being 6'4" with 36" inseam legs...

In retrospect, VR4 in 91/92 is more suited to a comparison to the present day WRX, which is a great car in the end, but still a cramped econo-box, no matter how much hp it has :)

I owned a 1992 Galant VR-4, and had it set up with increased boost, no cat
exhaust, cone filter intake. hi-energy ignition, and centerforce clutch.

I never timed it, but it pulled on everyone I encountered on the highway
including Porsches. HKS made a bunch of stuff for it, even before Greddy and
Trust and others had come over to the USA.

Fun car, especially changing lanes abruptly at 80MPH with the 4WS.
