Cody,
In my opinion, it does not really matter what type of snowtires you have
for Stamboat, a case could actually be made that with crappy ones you
will learn more. I drove out from CA last year on a brandnew set of
Blizzak ML-22's (The high-performance snow) and had a good time getting
there on totally dry roads and had an absolute blast at the Steamboat
track. The car was tossable, but did hook up but I found it
controllable, predictable and a LOT of fun. Half the experience would
IMO be wasted if you were able to use studs at the track. If I lived in
Colorado these aren't the tires I would want but for me they were the
perfect compromise.
BTW, I used my 1993 S4 at that one and it was great to feel that pig
dance all over the ice. Next year I hope to have the CQ ready for it.
You'll have a great time whatever you choose to use.
